Traditional Style Media Work

This blog is only to show my traditional style work.  I'm not very good at all at it, so please don't be too harsh because it's not really my thing haha.  But yeah I wanted to show everything I've done that I have pictures of for my traditional media drawings/paintings.  Hope they're not too bad.
My interpretation of a Chuck Close drawing.
Mine, before the final, against the real version of his drawing.
If you don't know him, you should google him.  His drawings
in real life are the size of house walls.  It's crazy.
This was also my first time really using charcoal.
Church in Savannah for Drawing II.
After the one color pastel wash.
This sucked...I don't like it.  Except for the background
and the fabric.  I LOVE textures. :]  Oil pastels.
So...as you'll see my teacher likes clutter...I HATE clutter
but had to put it into the picture because he marked
people off two letter grades and admitted it was because
of his personal preference in not having every inch of the
drawing taken up by something.  *sigh* oh well.
The class is over and it came out alright.  This is the process.
This is the final product. Ink and ink water color wash.
detail of some of the textures I made. :D   Again, I LOVE texture.
I actually really enjoy painting, though I'm not very good.  This was a,
done in one sitting, painting I did for Ben kinda for a just-because kinda deal.  There's a lot
\of things I'd change, but still happy with how it came out even though
I didn't stress over it like I usually do with all my work.  Acrylic.
Water color painting I did back in high school.  You can see where I had a tree masked
for the last step so this isn't the final one.  This one was hung
in the student counsel building of my school.
Final for drawing one I did.  Came out alright :D Charcoal.
Drawing two with the clutter man teacher hah.  Again, this isn't done
but I want to finish it sometime.  Pastels.
Another painting I did for Ben.  This was also the process.   Done in Acrylics again :]

Graphic Design and Typography

So I guess today instead of going right into a showing more of my indesign drawings I'm gonna show some of my designs with type.  Remember, these are from my old classes, so really, not very good.  Still fun to look back to and see how far it has come.

My recreation of George Owell's 1984.  I made it the right
dimensions to fit over my copy of the book. :]

Design for a band called Underoath, for the song, "It's Dangerous
Business Walking Out of your Front Door."  Long title, I know,
but it's an AMAZING song.  This is also back in my Bleeding
Cowboys font days, before everyone and their parents started
using the type too hahah,

Second poster Design for the same song.  This one actually
won me an reward out of the department at school.  I got an
amazing typography book out of it called,
"Advertising Design and Typography" by Alex W. White.

In Flames song called "Cloud Connected."  Beautiful lyrics to an
awesome metal song.  Love, love, love!
I'll be showing more of my art soon. :D  Just wanted to make a quick post since everything has been SOOO crazy lately and I haven't been table to.  Hope you enjoy!  Let me know what you think of it.

Progression of my Favorite Illustrator Drawing I've done

So I decided to keep showing my older work for now so that my blog doesn't jump back and fourth between what I've been doing recently and what I have done before.

So for anyone that doesn't know Illustrator, the program I used for this drawing is basically for graphic design purposes mostly.  It's a vector based program which means no matter how much you zoom in and down you're not going to lose quality of the images because everything is done with numbers.  So for instance if you zoom in on this photo in photoshop or a regular image viewing program, you're going to get pixelation to the image and especially if you save over an image and resize it it's never going to be in as good of quality as the first one no matter how high the resolution you save it in (always thought that was interesting.)

So anyways this program I used to draw is basically as if I were to cut out all different little sequencing colors of paper layer them and glue them down...for hours and hours and hours.  And, well, quicker than at least real life doing it.  Usually you can easily start with an under-layer of a photograph so it's easy to pick up the colors and the shapes.

Here's how I did. :D
Initial image
Progression.  You can tell it's done with small shapes a lot here.
You can also see where the new things are going to be drawn
like the flowers on my wrist for instance.
Example of the progression I made.  I had initially wanted to draw
the bg and my friend Erin in the black dress but I ran out of time for it.
Final product
The ugly side of the drawing.  Kinda weird to see ALLLL
of the lines that went in to do even just this little part of the picture.  Basically this is an
image of every stroke I made to make all of the little graphic shapes to
make the final product sans any color.
Ahh, so proud of this drawing.  I still have the original illustrator file and sometime when I get the free time I want to be able to draw the whole thing so I don't have the boring background and so I can get Erin in there as well.  Someday hopefully :D

Coffee

One coffee filter box down, at least 40 cups of coffee within the past 8 or so weeks.  God I hate coffee, but it gets me through times like thisss.

All done for the night though.  Project for tomorrow is done though!  I'll be posting the progression of my work tomorrow and how it turned out.  Early night to bed, soooo happy! :]

Art

I've already been asked why I didn't post my artwork first off in this thing.  SO I guess here we go?  Let the critiquing begin :]
Only decently recent thing I'm gonna show now.
Was part of an campaign I did for Starbucks, this was
a web banner I decided to make for Intro to Ad.
You'll see I LOVE photography :]

First try ever at a magazine layout, right side supposed
to be designed as if it was an article on us as designers
Right side
The small photos at the bottom is all my work as well

The first photo manipulation I ever made.  Did a decent job
for not being taught but just figuring it out by myself :]
Back from Community College as well.
We had to design a cd cover for a band as you can probably
guess my Associates Degree is pretty much Graphic Design.
Looking back there's SO much I should do to improve this.

Well that's all I'm going to post now, especially since I don't have much more work to show!  Here's an idea though on what I do for my art.  Hope you enjoy some :]

Home in MA

Only because I miss having my animals around all of the time.  Meet my two cats, Xena and Sox (yes, like the Boston Red Sox.)  These are photos I've taken of the two of them.

Xena the warrior princess.

Sox, the crazy goober of a cat we all can't help but love.

First Post

Well I am totally new to blogging and have never even thought about doing it before.  I think I am looking at it in a way of being able to take some of the stress out of all the things I need to do with school.  So here I am!

I think one of the things I want to be able to do with this blog is to show all of the things I really enjoy about advertising, and to show some of the ads that I think show what my style is and what I enjoy.  I'm going to want to show some of the progression of my own ads and see if I can get any feedback from anyone on them.  Any critique is totally necessary so please just let me know, it helps me to grow as an advertising designer which is my own dream. Keep me guessing, keep me working, and keep me dreaming.  :D
